Winter’s sleep | Ronovan Writes #Weekly #Haiku #Poetry Prompt #Challenge 385 Leaves & Mound

Nature’s Blankets
dead leaves on the ground
spread out across the landscape
not piled up or bagged

beneath their winter blankets
seeds and insects sleep til spring

Oddly, I don’t seem to have an image to go with this. It’s late at night, once again, and again I am at my keyboard, the dogs at the foot of the bed. I like this time of the night because everything around me has come to rest…except for me. I appreciate the quiet.

Good night!

thoughts and second thoughts
present themselves past midnight
choices made in haste

words spoken and unspoken
might swap places if they could

wills-o’-the-wisp float
through the damp and misty air
searching out pathways…
sights that you don’t want to see
tracks down which you should not go

National Poetry Month

This National Poetry Month, 2021, I have had (and still having) a lot of fun writing my poems. Mostly micropoetry, this year. I am thinking about continuing on with the writing for the rest of the evening, and nothing else is scheduled, and so I will watch the words and phrases floating past and catch a few here and there to work with. The Scamper pups have had their evening meal and are now asleep at the foot of my chair. Al is on his way to his favorite café for a cup of coffee, picking up a few things from the grocery store on the way home.

The poems that I have posted during NaPoWriMo 2021 are on my Quiet Spaces Journal: The Written Word at Home.

I am still writing for another three or four hours.

Micropoem | joy and sadness

wrap yourself in quiet
put sadness aside
look past pain to joy

deep rivers carve their way through stone
falling tears both heal and burn
