“Words”

“Words”

Words on a page
frighten me,
define me,
spell me out to strangers,
lock me up
in expectations.

I may not want, tomorrow,
still to be
the person that I am today,
but written words
create a mold
I’m trapped into
without a choice.

  1. You lizl are never trapped without a choice. Words got you IN THERE and Words can get you out. The actual words may not ever change but the meaning does… the nuances.. the understandings of our time. Words change.to you, to others, in our culture, and in our lifetimes. I’ve never said a word I couldn’t take back. I’ve often said words I wish I hadn’t, words that make me sad or words I am ashamed of…but you’re never trapped without a choice.

What is the cultural phenomenon meme but words always changing…..

    meme
    /mēm/
    noun
an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, especially imitation.

Words don’t hold you prisoner, unchanging and unchallenged ideas do. ~~dru~~
